A HUNDRED TO ONE, ON THE SAME EARRING
The largest diamond on the Ava weighs 1.015 carats. The smallest weighs 0.01. That is a hundredfold difference in weight between two stones set a few millimetres apart, and it means the piece is built by two different trades — the work of seating a one-carat step cut has almost nothing in common with the work of setting a stone you can barely pick up.
Seventy-two diamonds in total, 3.91 carats, across four different specifications.
THE SETTING
The two large stones on each earring — an emerald cut at 7.00 × 5.00 mm and a pear at 7.00 × 4.50 mm — sit in individual collets, collars cut to each outline. The sixty-eight small stones are micro-prong set, the prongs raised out of the metal with a graver under magnification.
Those two techniques have different tolerances. A collet is cut once, to a fixed point, and either matches the stone or does not. Micro-prong work is cumulative: sixty-eight seats have to stay level relative to each other across a curved surface. Where the fields meet, an error in either shows in both.

Diamonds — 2 emerald cut, 7.00 × 5.00 mm, 1.015 ct each (2.03 ct); 2 pear cut, 7.00 × 4.50 mm, 0.58 ct each (1.16 ct); 36 round at 1.35 mm and 32 at 1.30 mm (0.72 ct). 72 stones, 3.91 ct total.
Certification — every diamond of 0.20 ct and above ships with its certificate: GIA for natural, IGI for lab-grown.
Setting — Collet on the emerald and pear, micro prong throughout the pavé.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 5.87 g at 14K, 6.90 g at 18K.
