FOUR RIGHT ANGLES IN A COLLAR OF METAL
A bezel around a round stone is a circle, and metal takes a circle willingly. A bezel around a princess cut has to turn four right angles, and metal resists a right angle — pushed around a sharp corner it wants to thin on the outside of the bend and bunch on the inside. Too thin and the corner will split in wear. Too heavy and the collar creeps across the table where it can be seen.
The Cassidy asks for that eight times, four corners on each of its two stones. Princess cuts at 4.50 × 4.50 mm, 0.572 carats each.
THE SETTING
The reason to do it this way is protection. A princess cut carries its weight at four unprotected points, and those corners are where the stone chips. A full bezel is the only setting that covers all four completely, which is why it is the right choice for a stud — the piece a person puts in and forgets about.
It is also the whole design. There are two stones on this pair and nothing else: no halo, no pavé, no gallery work. What you see is the diamond, the collar and the line where they meet.
