WHY A BRACELET TAPERS
A ring is seen from one angle. A bracelet is not: it wraps, so the stones at the ends are always turned away from the viewer, seen at a slant or edge-on, while the stones at the middle face directly out.
A row of identical diamonds therefore does not look identical on the wrist. The ends look smaller and dimmer than the centre, because they are being seen from the side.
Graduation corrects for it. The Constance runs three sizes — ten stones at 4.00 mm, thirty at 3.50 mm, fifty at 3.20 mm — largest through the centre, stepping down toward the clasp. Worn, the taper is invisible. The bracelet simply reads as even, which is exactly the point: the design compensates for the curve of the wrist so that the eye does not have to.
THE SETTING
Ninety stones, 14.45 carats, every one in its own collet. Three sizes means three collar diameters, each cut to a different depth so all ninety tables finish on the same plane despite sitting on a curve.
At 24.65 grams of gold in 14K this is among the heaviest pieces in the collection — a graduated line needs more structure than a uniform one, because no two adjacent links are quite the same.
