A CURVE, THEN A CORNER, FOURTEEN TIMES
The Elisa alternates two outlines that have nothing in common. An oval is a single continuous curve with no straight edge anywhere on it. An emerald cut is a rectangle with its corners cut off — eight straight edges and eight angles, and not one curve. The band runs one, then the other, the whole way around.
For the setter that means never settling into a rhythm. Cutting a seat for a curve and cutting a seat for a corner are different operations with different tools, and here they alternate every single stone. Seven emerald cuts at 4.00 × 3.00 mm and seven ovals at 5.00 × 3.00 mm — fourteen stones, 2.71 carats, and fourteen consecutive changes of technique.
THE SETTING
Every stone is collet-set, each in a collar cut to its own outline rather than dropped into a shared channel. Because the two shapes are different lengths and sit at different depths for their weight, the seats are cut to different depths so that every table finishes on the same plane. A row that alternates is far less forgiving than a row that repeats: with one shape, the eye compares each stone to the pattern, but here it compares each stone to the one two places away, and any drift accumulates visibly.
The metal between the settings is drawn narrow, so the band reads as a sequence of stones rather than a strip of gold carrying them.
SPECIFICATIONS
Diamonds — 7 emerald cut, 4.00 × 3.00 mm, 0.20 ct each (1.40 ct); 7 oval cut, 5.00 × 3.00 mm, 0.187 ct each (1.31 ct). 14 stones, 2.71 ct total.
Certification — every diamond of 0.20 ct and above ships with its certificate: GIA for natural, IGI for lab-grown. The seven emerald cuts qualify; the seven ovals are melee and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.
Setting — Collet, one per stone, alternating two collar shapes.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 2.72 g at 14K, 3.20 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
