A PAIR HAS TO AGREE TWICE
A ring is a single object. An earring is never seen alone. Whatever is true of one has to be true of the other, and the two are viewed together, a few inches apart on the same face — which is the least forgiving way to display a mismatch.
The Juliet compounds that. Each earring carries two stones of different shapes, a heart brilliant and an emerald step cut, set side by side. So four diamonds have to satisfy three separate agreements: heart to heart, emerald to emerald, and heart to emerald within each earring.
TWO CUTS THAT SHARE NOTHING
A heart is all curve and a cleft. An emerald cut is straight edges and cut corners. They handle light differently too — the heart breaks it into short flashes, the emerald returns it in long flat planes that barely move. The pairing is meant to read as a contrast, but the two still have to belong to one another, which means matching them on everything that carries across: colour, clarity, and the height at which they sit.
Both stones are held in prongs within a single integrated gallery rather than two separate settings, so neither can tilt independently or drift out of alignment against the ear.
