BRIGHT, CALM, BRIGHT, CALM
The two cuts on the Leann weigh almost the same — 0.40 carats for the round brilliants, 0.352 for the emerald cuts — and behave nothing alike.
A round brilliant is built to break light up. Fifty-seven facets scatter it into short, fast flashes that change with every small movement. An emerald cut is built to do the opposite: long parallel planes return light in broad, slow sheets that hold steady as the wrist turns.
Alternating them means the bracelet does not sparkle evenly. It flickers — bright, calm, bright, calm — and the rhythm of that is the design. A row of thirty-five round brilliants would be busier and, oddly, less noticeable, because the eye stops registering a texture that never changes.
THE SETTING
Nineteen rounds at 4.50 mm and sixteen emerald cuts at 5.00 × 3.50 mm, 13.23 carats in total. Every stone is collet-set in a collar cut to its own outline, which here means two entirely different geometries — a true circle and a rectangle with cut corners — seated to different depths so all thirty-five tables finish level.
The counts do not match, and cannot: nineteen and sixteen will not divide into a repeating unit, so the sequence had to be composed to resolve at the clasp rather than simply repeated.
