THE ONLY CUT WITH AN ODD NUMBER OF CORNERS
Every other shape in this collection has corners or points in pairs — a round has none, a princess four, a marquise two, a pear one and a rounded end opposite it. A triangle has three, and three cannot be divided into opposing pairs.
That changes how it is set and how it is worn. There is no axis through two opposite corners to balance the stone on, so each of the three claws is carrying an unequal share of the load and none of them has a partner directly across the stone. It also means the earring has a definite orientation: point up or point down is a decision, not a default.
THE STONE
These measure 6.00 × 6.00 mm and weigh 0.65 carats each. A round brilliant of the same weight would span about 5.50 mm, so the triangle covers noticeably more of the ear for the same stone — the cut is worked shallow and wide, spreading its weight across the face rather than burying it in the pavilion.
The consequence is that light passes through a triangle more readily than a deep cut, and less of it is returned. What the shape gives in presence it gives back in depth.
THE SETTING
One claw at each corner, wrapping the point from both faces, over an open gallery. Nothing else — 1.26 grams of gold in 14K across the pair.
