THE SETTING IS THE STRUCTURE
On most bracelets the setting holds the stone and a separate framework holds the bracelet together. On the Veronica they are the same piece of metal. Each emerald cut is closed in a full bezel, and that bezel wall is also the link — hinged directly to the wall beside it.
It makes the piece unusually clean, because there is no gallery, no under-structure and no visible mechanism: thirty-one metal boxes, each holding a diamond, joined edge to edge. It also removes the margin for error. On a bracelet with a separate frame, a slightly imperfect setting is a cosmetic problem. Here it is a structural one — the wall that does not sit true is also the hinge that has to carry the wrist.
THE STONES
Thirty-one emerald cuts at 4.50 × 3.30 mm, 0.30 carats each, 9.30 carats in total. Every one clears the 0.20 carat line, so every one arrives with its own certificate.
A step cut is the right choice for a bezel and the wrong one for a careless setter: its outline is four straight edges and four cut corners, so the collar has to be formed square, and a bezel that is even slightly out of true shows along a straight edge in a way it never would around a circle.
