THREE COURSES, LAID LIKE BRICK
Brick laid in running bond never puts one joint above another: each course starts half a brick along from the last. The top of the Cedric is laid the same way, in three courses of gold.
The middle course is the diamonds: five framed windows of four round brilliants, 1.60 mm each, a short span of plain gold between one window and the next. Either side of it runs a raised rail, cut across at intervals — each cut over the middle of a window, each gap between windows under the middle of a length of rail. No break in one course lines up with a break in the next.
The pattern runs over the top and down both sides, twenty diamonds in all, and stops with the last window. Under the finger the gold is plain. The band is 7.09 mm wide and 1.50 mm thick, 5.08 grams in 14K.
THE SETTING
Each window steps down inside its frame, and ten polished beads hold the four diamonds lying in it, raised in pairs along the row: one pair opens it, one closes it, and one stands over each of the three joins between. The three inner pairs bear on both their neighbors at once, so neither stone can be seated and finished alone. The cuts in the rails give the setter a reference: a row that had drifted along its frame would show against them at once. The floor under every stone is drilled through, so the inside of the band carries a line of small holes beneath the row.

Certification — these are melee diamonds and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.
Setting — Bead-set, four stones to a window, in five stepped frames.
Band — 7.09 mm wide, 1.50 mm at the profile. 19.81 mm inner diameter at size 10.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 5.08 g at 14K, 5.98 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
