EVERY JOINT IS A GROOVE
A metal watch bracelet is made of separate links, pinned together so it can bend around the wrist. The Clement takes the look and none of the movement. Fine grooves cut across the band divide it into flat rectangular panels, with a small raised tab at the edge wherever two meet and a stepped lip running the length of both sides. Nothing flexes: it is one piece of gold, 4.94 grams in 14K and 6.28 mm across the top.
The diamonds follow the same plan. Rather than one row, they are given panels of their own — a long box across the top holds four round brilliants, and a square box either side holds one. All six stones are the same 2.10 mm, so the rhythm of one, four, one is set by the frames alone.
THE SETTING
Each box is cut down into the band inside a raised, squared frame, so the stones sit within it rather than proud of the surface. It is the frame that meets a hard edge first, not a prong or a girdle.
In the long box the four stones share their prongs: a bead on each long wall at five stations along the row, five pairs in all, and every inner pair grips the two diamonds either side of it. The row has to fill a box walled on all four sides, so no stone can be nudged along the line to make up for another. The single stones keep four prongs each, one standing in each corner of its box.

Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
