EVERY EDGE STRAIGHT BUT ONE
The only curve in the gold on the face of the Edgar is the bezel around its center diamond. Every other line is straight: an eight-sided plate at the top, a flat face with a bevel down each side, and a sunk panel on each shoulder, closed square at both ends.
Flat polished gold behaves like a mirror, lighting all at once as the hand turns and then going dark. That leaves the round brilliant at the center as the one thing on the ring that breaks light into points — 4.70 mm across, 0.40 carats, a single stone outweighing the other thirty-six together.
THE SETTING
A full bezel is a closed collar of gold, worked down over the whole girdle once the stone is seated. There is no claw anywhere on it, so nothing stands proud for a cuff to catch: the collar closes on the diamond along its entire circumference or not at all. The plate gives it eight straight sides to sit within, none of which repeats its curve, so the eye reads the circle against them.
The side stones sit below the face rather than on it, bead-set two rows to a panel, in three sizes from 1.40 mm down to 1.20 mm. Under each panel the inside of the band opens into a groove that shows their backs; it runs past the last stone and narrows away on the lower shank, leaving the base solid at 5.81 mm across and 2.00 mm thick.

Diamonds — 1 round brilliant center, 4.70 mm, 0.40 ct; 8 round brilliant, 1.40 mm, 0.01 ct each (0.08 ct); 12 round brilliant, 1.30 mm, 0.008 ct each (0.10 ct); 16 round brilliant, 1.20 mm, 0.006 ct each (0.10 ct). 37 stones, 0.68 ct total.
Certification — the 0.40 ct round center diamond ships with its certificate: GIA for natural, IGI for lab-grown. The thirty-six side stones are melee and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.
Setting — Full bezel on the center, sunk into an octagonal plate; bead-set, two rows to each shoulder panel.
Band — 7.72 mm wide at the top, tapering to 5.81 mm at the base, where it is 2.00 mm thick. The head stands 2.99 mm from the outside of the band to the top of the bezel. 19.81 mm inner diameter at size 10.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 7.35 g at 14K, 8.65 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
