THE RAILS DO NOT STOP WHERE THE STONES DO
Two lines of milgrain run the whole circumference of the Edmund, unbroken. The diamonds occupy only the top: thirteen round brilliants at 2.50 mm sit between the rails for part of the way round, and then the row ends and the rails carry on without them.
The beading is the frame and the stones are hung inside it, so the ring reads as finished from every side rather than as a row of diamonds with plain gold behind. Where the last stone sits, the channel closes on a square end of gold, and the track continues as a flat polished strip until it meets the row again.
The row takes 2.50 mm of a top that measures 7.77 mm across; the rest is gold, a beaded rail either side and a broad polished border at each edge. 6.73 grams in 14K, most of it metal meant to be seen.
THE SETTING
The stones are channel-set, held at the girdle by the two walls of a recessed track, with a slim bar of gold between each pair. A round stone meets a straight wall at a single point on each side, so the grooves must hold one depth the length of the row, and the bars stop each diamond creeping toward the next.
Beneath the row, the inside of the band is cut open. The thirteen pavilions show against the finger, and light reaches them from behind. With no floor under the channel, the walls and the bars are the whole of the setting.

Diamonds — 13 round brilliant, 2.50 mm, 0.0585 ct each. 0.76 ct total.
Certification — these are melee diamonds and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.
Setting — Channel, across the top of the band, with a bar between each stone and an open window beneath.
Band — 7.77 mm wide at the top, 6.33 mm at the base; 1.70 mm thick, 2.03 mm over the milgrain. 19.81 mm inner diameter at size 10.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 6.73 g at 14K, 7.92 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
