THE CHEVRONS FALL AT UNEQUAL INTERVALS
Thirty-four diamonds of 1.50 mm run the whole way round the Felix, but never as one continuous line. At intervals the track carrying them closes in a rounded end and the gold drops into a sunken panel: two chevrons set point to point, cut below the surface like an hourglass. Past it the track opens and the stones resume.
Those panels fall at their own spacing. A broken row on a closed band is usually set out in equal steps, one length of diamond repeating round the circumference. Here the runs differ — a short handful of stones in one, more than twice as many in the next — so the ring reads as separate lengths rather than a single unit stepped round the finger.
Across its 6.00 mm width the band is built in flat tiers: two polished rails along each edge, parted by a fine groove, with the recessed track between them. Everything that happens round the ring happens inside that track.
THE SETTING
Each diamond is held by small beads of gold raised from the floor of the track, and between two neighbors one pair of beads holds both. With no wall of metal between one stone and the next, a run reads as a length of diamond rather than gold with stones let into it. It also ties the row together: a bead pressed harder on one side moves its neighbor.
At each end of a run the last stone has no neighbor to share with, so those beads work alone against the rounded wall where the track closes. Every panel adds two such ends, and they do not come round at an interval the setter can work to.
SPECIFICATIONS
Diamonds — 34 round brilliant, 1.50 mm, 0.0112 ct each. 0.38 ct total.
Certification — these are melee diamonds and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.
Setting — Shared bead, in a recessed track round the full band, divided at intervals by sunken chevron panels.
Band — 6.00 mm wide, 1.50 mm at the profile. 17.33 mm inner diameter at size 7.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 3.71 g at 14K, 4.36 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
