NINETEEN IN SINGLE FILE
A band 6.97 mm wide has room for a field of diamonds across its top. The Harrison uses 1.60 mm of that width and puts its diamonds into length instead: nineteen round brilliants in single file, over the top of the ring and down both sides to just short of halfway round.
Kept to one stone's width, the row leaves broad polished gold either side, and the edges of the band, which meet desks and door frames, carry no diamonds. A pair of gold beads parts each stone from the next, so the row reads as a dotted line, seen from the side of the hand as well as from above.
It lies in a sunken channel between thin polished rails, closed square at each end, on a narrower raised strip. Round the lower half the band is plain, and slimmer: 6.97 mm wide and 2.21 mm deep over the beads at the top, 5.14 mm and 1.50 mm at the base. 5.41 grams at 14K.
THE SETTING
Each diamond sits in its own seat and is held by four beads raised from the gold, two ahead of it and two behind. Every bead between two stones holds both, and a last pair at each end closes the row against the frame.
Left polished and standing, the beads are as much the pattern as the diamonds, so they must match in size and height all the way down both sides. Beneath each stone the seat opens through to the inside of the band, letting light in from behind.

Certification — these are melee diamonds and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.

Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 5.41 g at 14K, 6.36 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
