DEEPER WHERE THE DIAMONDS ARE
The Lucian is not one thickness all the way round. Over the top, where the diamonds sit, the band stands 2.30 mm off the finger; around the lower half, 1.50 mm. The width stays 7.00 mm at both, so the extra 0.80 mm goes entirely into depth, and only where there is something to hold.
The change happens on a single line. The flat frame around the stones and the stepped, rounded rails either side of it stop there together, square to the band, and at the same point the edge drops to the plain gold beneath. Side-on, the ring reads as a set section laid over a flat band. Inside, a row of small windows is let into the gold beneath the stones, so the added depth is not solid metal. The whole ring is 6.00 grams in 14K.
THE SETTING
The nineteen emerald cuts measure 3.00 × 1.50 mm and lie crosswise, long side across the band. Each has its own cell: the frame closes over its short ends, a slim bar of gold divides it from the next, and the channel is sunk below the frame so the tables sit within the metal.
A step cut returns light in broad flat planes, so it shows any fault of alignment a round brilliant would scatter away. One stone turned in its cell, or standing a fraction high, breaks the row. Every cell has to hold its diamond square to the band and level with the other eighteen, end to end.

Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 6.00 g at 14K, 7.06 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
