FIVE ABOVE THE STONE, FIVE BELOW
The frame around the Marguerite's center diamond is an octagon, repeating the outline of the stone inside it: a square with its four corners cut off. Eight edges, and only two of them carry small round diamonds. Five sit above the center stone and five below it as the ring is worn, at 1.00 mm each. The two side edges are given to baguettes instead, so the small stones never close a circle around the center.
Each side takes two baguettes rather than one: the first upright with its long edge against the center stone, filling that edge of the frame, the second lying flat along the shoulder beyond it and running with the band. The head steps outward in two lengths of diamond on either side rather than stopping at a rim — four baguettes at 3.20 × 1.50 mm, 0.13 ct between them, around a 0.60 ct center of 5.19 × 5.00 mm.
THE SETTING
Four claws fold over the cut corners of the center stone and grip nothing else, standing clear of the octagon below, so the frame touches no part of the diamond it holds. The frame is carried down to the shank on short angled legs, its underside left open, so light reaches the stone from beneath as well as across the table.
Two kinds of seat meet in the one frame. The rounds drop into a channel between two plain rails, held by beads shared between neighbors; each baguette is closed in its own square-cornered collar and rubbed over at the edge. Each run of rounds is five stones long and ends against a cut corner, so there is no spare channel in which to absorb a stone set out of true.

Diamonds — 1 asscher cut center, 5.19 × 5.00 mm, 0.60 ct; 4 baguette, 3.20 × 1.50 mm, 0.0325 ct each (0.13 ct); 10 round brilliant, 1.00 mm, 0.005 ct each (0.05 ct). 15 stones, 0.78 ct total.
Certification — the 0.60 ct center diamond ships with its certificate: GIA for natural, IGI for lab-grown. The baguettes and round brilliants are melee and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.
Setting — Four claws on the cut corners; collet baguettes and bead-set rounds in an octagonal frame.
Band — 2.20 mm wide, 1.52 mm at the profile. 17.03 mm inner diameter.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 2.38 g at 14K, 2.80 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
