THE ORNAMENT CHANGES SIDES
Outside, the Victor is worked only where the diamonds are. Sixteen baguettes run across the top in a channel between two fine rails, and beyond each rail the edge is built up into a row of squared blocks, notched apart at regular intervals. Where the stones stop, the rails and the blocks stop with them: the lower half is flat polished gold, 7.00 mm wide with nothing on it.
The inside reverses that. Grooves run round the whole inner surface, and at the back of the shank, opposite the stones and behind that plain outer face, they turn at right angles into a symmetrical key of solid gold. The most worked figure on the ring faces the finger, and shows only when it comes off.
THE SETTING
Each baguette lies with its long side across the channel, 2.75 mm from wall to wall and 1.75 mm along the row, with a thin bar of gold between every pair. Sixteen of them read as a ladder of short steps rather than one long line.
The walls close over the short ends of every stone. A straight baguette keeps four square corners, and a corner is where a step cut chips, so the walls are its protection. They also fix its length: one measurement for the whole row, and a stone a fraction long will not seat, a fraction short will move. At either end the row closes against a solid wall, where the plain band begins.

Certification — these are melee diamonds and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.
Setting — Channel, across the top of the band, with a bar between each stone.
Band — 7.00 mm wide, 1.50 mm at the profile. 17.33 mm inner diameter at size 7.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 4.56 g at 14K, 5.37 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
