NEARLY HALF THE STONES, A SEVENTH OF THE WEIGHT
Sixty-two diamonds cross the top of the Vincent in three rows, and they are not shared out evenly. Thirty-two round brilliants at 1.90 mm fill the two outer rows. The row between them holds thirty at 1.00 mm: nearly half the stones on the ring, and 0.11 of its 0.77 carats. Exactly one-seventh of the weight.
So the center row is not there for carat weight. Its stones are just over half the diameter of those either side, and held in a line of their own between two thin polished rails, they return light in finer points than the rows beside them. Across the face that reads coarse, fine, coarse: two broad bands of brilliance and a ruled seam between them. Beyond them, both edges are flat rims of plain polished gold, so no stone sits on the edge that takes the knocks.
THE SETTING
The outer rows are bead-set. Between every two 1.90 mm stones stands a pair of round beads, one at each side of the row, each gripping the stones either side of it: four points to a stone, every one shared. The 1.00 mm stones run in a narrow channel between the rails, which leave no room for drift — a stone set a fraction off line sits visibly nearer one rail than the other.
Inside, the band is cut back into a recessed panel, opened under every diamond, that ends squarely where the rows end. From there the shank is plain gold, 1.30 mm thick at the base against 1.87 mm across the stones.

Certification — these are melee diamonds and are not individually certified, which is standard practice at this size.
Setting — Shared beads on the two outer rows; the center row between two polished rails. Running the top half of the band.
Band — 8.52 mm wide at the top, tapering to 5.97 mm at the base; 1.87 mm at the profile across the stones, 1.30 mm at the base. 19.81 mm inner diameter at size 10.
Metal — 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose. 5.54 g at 14K, 6.52 g at 18K.
Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
