A SLOT WITH NO CORNERS
One slot, rounded at both ends, carries the Wesley's eight round brilliants of 3.20 mm across the top of the band. A row of stones is more often cut as a rectangle and stopped square; this one closes in a curve around its last diamond, so the opening takes the outline of what it holds.
A round stone against a square end leaves an empty corner of cut-away gold on either side of it, where soap and dust settle and show as two dark notches. Round the ends off and the last diamond fills its end of the slot the way the others fill the middle.
The stones are also kept low. Each takes up more than half of the 6.06 mm width, yet the band is 2.26 mm deep across the top against 1.80 mm under the finger. They sit in the gold rather than on it, leaving little for a door frame or a desk edge to catch. Beyond the ends of the row the band is plain polished gold.
THE SETTING
Small beads of gold stand at the two walls of the slot, in pairs. Between neighbors each pair is shared, bearing on both girdles at once; at each rounded end a last pair stands inside the curve and holds the end stone from its far side. Nine pairs, and every stone held at four points.

Diamond origin — natural or lab-grown, to preference.
