THE LONG DIAMOND IS TWO TRIANGLES
The shape lying down the finger on the Wilhelmina is not one stone. It is two triangle cuts of 6.00 × 6.00 mm, 0.60 ct each, set base to base so their outlines close into a single elongated diamond 20.93 mm from point to point. Two stones asked to read as one shape have to agree where they meet — the same base length, the same height at the girdle, both on one axis — or the outline bends at its widest part.
So the ring sets that line rather than hiding it. A straight bar of small round brilliants crosses the waist directly over the join, runs out past the frame on both sides and finishes in short stepped arms where the shank meets the head.
The face is long but low: 20.93 mm along the finger against 3.22 mm of rise, so it lies close to the hand. Tapered blades step shorter toward each point around the frame, each with its own line of small stones, all of it standing on a plain shank 2.00 mm wide and 1.27 mm through.
THE SETTING
Every diamond here is prong set, the two large stones included. Each triangle is gripped at its corners, with a fine chevron of metal closing over the apex — the thinnest part of the stone, and the part that chips. The 55 small rounds sit in their own prong cups, prongs shared between neighbors down the longer runs.
Under the head the plaque backs onto a solid plate rather than an open gallery. On a face this long that is structural: an open back would flex along its length, and flex is what lets go of a stone held at its corners.
